Story
Mike was on a work trip in Indiana when he fell ill and ended up in the ER. After many tests, procedures, and an ICU stay, it was found he had what is called Group A strep septic shock. This caused him to be intubated for over a week, on up to four vasopressors, his kidneys to stop working on their own needing continuous dialysis, a chest tube, being tube-fed, and a flight to U of M to help be managed and treated for a very serious skin disorder called purpura fulminans.
Mike is currently kicking ass and is off the ventilator, vasopressors, and continuous dialysis, now needing intermittent hemodialysis and being treated in the SICU at U of M. The vasopressors did cause vasopressor-induced necrosis to his limbs, likely needing some amputations. While we do not know what the future holds, we do know that Mike has a very long road to recovery and will be out of work for an extended amount of time. Mike will need extensive rehabilitation after he is stable enough for discharge. Any donation will be extremely appreciated in his time of need!
